1969.5 Plymouth Roadrunner A12 440 +6 4-speed

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner coupe is powered by a 440ci V8 topped by a trio of two-barrel carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a Sure-Grip limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Tor-Red over black vinyl and has a black vinyl roof, Road Runner graphics, a matte-black scooped fiberglass hood, a dual exhaust system, black-finished 15″ H-series wheels, a Hurst shifter, an AM radio, and a heater. This A12 Road Runner was acquired by the current owner in 2023 and includes spare parts and a clean title.

One of 615 RM21 coupes produced, this car features include a black vinyl roof, chrome bumpers and trim, Road Runner badging, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. The lift-off matte-black fiberglass hood has a scoop, securing pins, and “440 6bbl” decals, though it has damage after reportedly blowing off at speed when the hood pins were left unsecured. It struck the rear deck lid and quarter panel, and photos of the resulting damage are shown in the gallery below.

Black H-series-style 15″ steel wheels are mounted with G70-15 Goodyear Polyglas Red Streak tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.

The front and rear bench seats are trimmed in black vinyl and complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, rear bench, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include a Hurst shifter, an AM radio, front vent windows, and a heater.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary readouts for alternator status, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 25 of which were added under current ownership.

The 440ci V8 features three two-barrel Holley carburetors and an Edelbrock intake manifold. The engine pad stamping has been restamped and is shown in the gallery along with additional component stampings and castings.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 Sure-Grip limited-slip differential with a 9 ¾″ rear end and 4.10:1 final drive.

The fender tag reveals that the car is a 1969 Road Runner coupe (RM21) built at the Lynch Road Detroit plant (9A) on April 26, 1969 (426) and powered by a 440ci Six-Pack V8 (A12) paired with a four-speed manual transmission (D21). The tag also denotes that the vehicle was finished in Tor-Red (V2) with a black vinyl roof (X9) as well as black vinyl upholstery and a front bench seat (H2X).

A replacement front grille with hardware, headlight and taillight bezels, emblems, and a speedometer bezel are included in the sale.
